2011 Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir

$65.00

Our Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir comes from two small family farms, each less than 2 acres and both at nearly 700 feet in elevation.  After several seasons working with the Wheelers and Hudsons, and the opportunity to learn about their sites, the fruit they produce and their families, we grow more enamored with their uniqueness each vintage, and love lacing them together as they combine to form a substantive and articulate expression of the Eola-Amity Hills.

The 2011 vintage was arguably the latest vintage in this region’s 45 year grape growing history.  It is a vintage that put farming and winemaking nerve to the test, but in the end produced extraordinarily concentrated and tightly wound wines.  These gems have further benefited by time in bottle and should prove to age with grace.

Tasting notes: Our 2011 Eola Amity Hills Pinot Noir opens with aromas of brambly boysenberry, spiced cherry and chili powder.  Notes of earth and fruit mingle like cherry pie and beetroot brownies laden with aromatic spices of cinnamon and allspice.  On the palate flavors are savory, steely and bright; dark plum, tobacco and bay leaf move to tayberry, rosemary and thyme.  This wine is succulent and contained, showing elegance and balance with a lingering saline finish.

Finish Chemistry: 13.3% alcohol, 5.9 g/L TA, 3.51 pH
