Filament Vineyard is a gem of a site, a secluded, high elevation, meticulously farmed 2.4-acres planted in 1998-2000 by Geoffrey & Lane Crowther in the Walnut Hill area of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA that produces exceptional wines rich in character. Fun fact: we harvest this site equally between 4 winemaker friends:  Drew Voit of Harper Voit, Ben Casteel of Bethel Heights, Jerry Murray of Project M and Matzinger Davies. Each of us receives the same number of rows from 5 clonal sections of the vineyard with each crafting our own expression of this special place.

TASTING NOTES

Enticingly aromatic and taught like a coiled spring, the 2023 Filament Pinot Noir has those elements we love in Pinot noir – fruit, flowers, spice and earth in spades – layered, rhythmic and balanced on a palate expanding and contracting like a wave. There are red, purple and blue fruits like boysenberry, raspberry & huckleberry, floral lilac and lavender, allspice and ginger, fennel, cocoa and coffee bean. Earthy maitake mushrooms with toasted hazelnut and savory umami. Is that perfect pitch I hear lingering in its layers?
